RUFC - Head-to-Head v Accrington

Rotherham United welcome Accrington Stanley to Don Valley on Saturday for the first game of the 2009/10 season.

The original Accrington Stanley was formed in 1891 and played in the Football League from 1921 to 1961 but the club collapsed five years later. In 1970 the 'new' Accrington were re-formed and in 2005/06 they won the Football Conference and were promoted to the League, winning their first League game in August 2006 against Nottingham Forest. But, I think most people will associate Accrington Stanley with the Milk advert of the 1980's!

Last season the Millers visited The Fraser Eagle Stadium in December and came away with all three points after a 3-1 win. Mark Burchill scored two goals for the Millers, one a penalty, before Andy Proctor pulled one back for Stanley. Drewe Broughton made sure of the win on the eighty-eighth minute. Back at Don Valley, in March, the game ended in a stalemate.
