RUFC - Head-to-Head v Derby County
Rotherham United take on Championship side Derby County on Tuesday night at Don Valley in the first round of the League Cup.

Derby County was one of the twelve founder members of the Football League and therefore are one of only eleven clubs to have competed in every season of the English football league. The club was actually founded in 1884 and was an offshoot of the Cricket Club, adopting its now traditional black and white club colours in the 1890s and appropriated its club nickname The Rams, a tribute to its links with The First Regiment of Derby Militia, which took a ram as its mascot and the song The Derby Ram as its regimental song, at the same time. The club played at The Baseball Ground until 1997 when they moved to Pride Park. The club is owned by Andrew Appleby and the Chairman is Adam Pearson. Nigel Clough is the manager. Derby began this season with a 2-1 win against Peterborough.

The last time the two teams met in the League was in the Championship in February 2005 at Millmoor. Derby took all three points in a 3-1 win. Martin Butler put the Millers into the lead with a penalty but eight minutes later Grzegorz Rasiak got the Rams equaliser. Just after half time, Marcus Tudgay got the visitors second with Inigo Idiakez making sure of the win from the penalty spot on the seventy-seventh minute.
