RUFC - Head-to-Head v West Brom

West Brom are learning to live life in the Championship after being relegated from the top flight at the end of last season. In fact, it`s been a bit of an up and down time for the Baggies over the last few seasons. In 2001/02 they were promoted to the Premiership under the manager Gary Megson only to go straight back down at the end of that season`s campaign, but came straight back up again the following season. In 2004/05, Megson`s successor, Bryan Robson, kept the team up by the skin of their teeth but they failed to avoid relegation the next season. Tony Mowbray came in as manager in October 2006, getting the team to the play-off final where they lost to Derby but the following season they were promoted as champions. After being relegated at the end of last season, Mowbray left to become manager of Celtic and was replaced by Roberto Di Matteo in the summer.

The Millers and the Baggies have only played each other ten times previously, the last time being in February 2004 when both teams were in the Championship. A Chris Sedgewick goal in the final twenty minutes gave the Millers all three points in front of more than 24,000 fans at The Hawthorns, which made up for the 3-0 loss at Millmoor four months earlier when an own goal from Shaun Barker and two goals from Rob Hulse gave the Baggies all three points.
