This will be the second time this season Carl has been in the middle for a Millers game. The first was at Don Valley in the 0-0 draw with Notts County when he booked Nick Fenton and Paul Warne. He then went on to book Fenton again which resulted in a sending off.

Carl was promoted to the National List of Assistant Referees in 1996, reaching the National List of Referees six years later.

This season he has issued twenty-eight yellow cards and two red cards in the thirteen games he's been in charge of.
