RUFC - Head-to-Head v Hereford
1972 was an important year for Hereford United Football Club. They were in the Southern League and drawn against the might of Newcastle United in the FA Cup going on to beat them with goals from Ronnie Radford and Ricky George, which have been shown on every Cup Final day since. Also, at the end of that season, the club reached the Football League for the first time.
A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then with the Bulls reaching the old second division but also being relegated until they eventually fell out of the league again in 1997 which also saw the start of the clubs financial problems.
After the saviour in the guise of Graham Turner turned up and saved the club in 1998 they languised in the Conference until winning the Conference Play-Off Final in 2006. Two years later they were promoted to League One. Unfortunately, they didn't last too long there and were relegated at the end of last season to League Two.
The game at Don Valley between the Millers and the Bulls earlier this season ended in a one-all draw. Adam Le Fondre gave the Millers the lead on eleven minutes with Gavin McCallum getting a last minute goal to share the points.
