'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ref Watch v Chesterfield

CH Webster from Tyne and Wear

Colin began refereeing in the North East in 1988, progressing through the Wearside and Northern Leagues and finally reaching the National List in 1994 and progressing to the Referees` List six years later. In 2005, 2006 and 2007 Colin was in the middle for the Football League`s Play-Off semi-finals.

Colin has twice visited Don Valley before - both times in the 2008/9 season. The first time was in the Carling Cup when Leicester City came to visit. Drewe Broughton put the Millers in the lead with the last move of the first half when he hammered home from a Pablo Mills cross and thirteen minutes into the second half Dale Tonge doubled the lead when Mills again put in a good ball and Tonge slipped it into the net.

The next time Colin was at Don Valley was later that season in the League when the Millers beat Gillingham two-nil. Jamie Clarke, who was on loan from Blackburn, scored the first goal on twenty-five minutes and the second goal came ten minutes from the end of the game from Jamie Green. That day yellow cards were shown to both Ryan Taylor and Dale Tonge.

So far this season, Colin has been involved in seven games and has shown fourteen yellow cards but no red cards (and let`s hope it`s that way at the end of Saturday`s game)
