'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ref Watch v Macclesfield

NS MILLER from County Durham

Nigel was appointed to the National List of Assistant Referees in 1996 and seven years later was promoted to the National List of Referees. He says that the highlights of his career so far are his three trips to the Millennium Stadium.

Last season, Nigel was in the middle for two games at Don Valley. The first was the derby against Chesterfield which the Millers won three-one after going behind to a James Lowry penalty on twenty-one minutes. The Millers scored all three goals in the second half from Danny Harrison, Adam Le Fondre and Kevin Ellison.
Booked that day were Marc Joseph from Rotherham and Chesterfield`s Robert Page and ex-Miller Gregor Robertson.

The second game was the one-all draw with Torquay. Danny Harrison had put the Millers in front on twenty minutes but Elliot Benyon equalised for Torquay five minutes from the end.
Booked that day were Gavin Gunning and Gary Roberts of the Millers and Roberts received a second yellow for a poor tackle in time added on and was therefore sent off.

This season, Nigel has been in the middle for twelve games dishing out twenty-seven yellow and two red cards.

Running the line will be
B Khatib from Sunderland
D Storrie from West Yorkshire

The Fourth Official will be
AR Tankard from South Yorkshire
