Robert got into refereeing by having to run the line for the Sunday side he coached and he says he was soon 'picked up' to be a linesman at Lilleshall Sports Centre for National School games.
Rob is quite infamous as the assistant who didn't see Roy Carroll retrieve the ball from a good yard over the line after a shot from Spurs' Pedro Mendes had been fumbled by the 'keeper.
Rob actually worked his way up to be a League referee some years ago and officiated at nearly fifty games before a lengthy injury cost him his place on the National List. After running the line in the Premiership and refereeing in the Conference he was added again to the list for the start of this season and has been in charge of nine games, giving out twenty-two yellow cards.
