RUFC - Head-to-Head v Aldershot

Rotherham United make the long journey to Aldershot for the third time in a year this Saturday.

Last season, the first game for the Millers at the Recreation Ground, was on Easter Monday which ended three-nil to the home side, Dean Morgan scoring on sixteen minutes after Pablo Mills and Gavin Gunning got themselves into an awful mess when a Gunning clearance hit Mills and bounced to Morgan who put it into the back of the net. It was nearly all the Millers in the second half but, with twelve minutes left, Marvin Morgan easily beat Mills and put the ball under Warrington for number two while five minutes later Dean Howell smashed in number three. This left the Millers in fourth place and the Shot one place below in fifth.

The two sides ended up meeting again, on Cup Final day, for the first leg of the play-offs at the Recreation ground. A goal from Adam Le Fondre, with two minutes to go, sent the Millers fans into raptures and the second leg at Don Valley was won easily by Rotherham when Le Fondre and Kevin Ellison scored to book the Millers a place at Wembley.

The first time the sides met in the League was in the Old Division Three back in 1975. The game at Millmoor ended in a two-two draw, with Alan Crawford and Paul Stancliffe getting the Millers' goals. The game at Aldershot was a three-nil win for the home side.
