RUFC - Head-to-Head v Barnet

Rotherham United entertain Barnet on Saturday in the first of two games at Don Valley.

The two teams have met just eighteen times both having won seven times with there being four draws.

The game at Don Valley last season was a goalless draw with the Millers having the better of the first half and the Bees having the majority of the second half. With twenty minutes to go Tom Newey of the Millers got his marching orders after asking Izale McLeod three times to hand the ball over so he could take a free-kick that had been awarded. Unfortunately, Newey let McLeod get under his skin and went towards him with his arms held high and the Barnet striker went down like a sack of potatoes and the referee gave Newey a red card.

The season before at Don Valley the Millers came away with a three-nil win. Kevin Ellison put the Millers into the lead on five minutes and twenty minutes later Nicky Law got the second. On the hour mark Adam Le Fondre made it three to give the Millers all three points.

The last time Barnet beat the Millers at Don Valley was in October 2008. Although the Millers began well with Nick Fenton putting them in the lead on eight minutes, Luke Medley equalised ten minutes later. On the half hour mark the visitors' Max Porter saw red after knocking over Micky Cummins when he only had Lee Harrison in the Bees' goal to beat. Unfortunately, Mark Hudson fluffed the penalty kick and six minutes later Albert Adomah put the visitors in front. Cliff Akurang scored twice for Barnet in the second half before the Millers were awarded a second penalty on eight minutes and Mark Burchill, who came on at half-time for Hudson, made it three-four to make it an interesting final ten minutes but the Millers couldn't find the net.
