RUFC - Head-to-Head v Shrimps

Rotherham United travel to the seaside on Tuesday night to take on Morecambe at the Globe Arena.

The Shrimps moved into their new ground at the start of last season with the Millers being the first to play a League game there, although Coventry City had played there earlier in the League Cup. The League game ended nil-nil.

The last time the Millers beat Morecambe at their ground (Christie Park) was in August 2008. Mark Lynch and Ryan Taylor scored in the first half to give the Millers a two goal lead but on seventy-seven minutes Neil Wainwright halved the deficit. In the final minute of the game up popped Lynch again to make sure of all three points for the visitors.

The season before, the Millers took a bit of a trouncing at Christie Park. The home side were three up inside eighteen minutes, with a goal from Matt Blinkhorn and two from Jon Newby. Mark Hudson pulled one back for the Millers on thirty-five minutes but, three minutes before half-time, Newby got his hat-trick. Craig Stanley scored in the second half to give the Shrimps a five-one win against a sorry looking Rotherham.
