RUFC - Ref Watch v Crawley

Gavin Ward from Surrey

Gavin joined the list of Assistant Referees at the start of the 2002/3 season, progressing to the National List of Referees in 2007, when he officiated in the Euro 2008 qualifying game between Denmark and Liechtenstein in the September.

The first time he was in charge of the Millers was in December 2007, at Millmoor, where he sent off Matty Crowell of Wrexham on fourteen minutes for a two footed lunge at Millers loanee, Ian Ross. Five minutes before half time Derek Holmes put the home side in front, getting a second on seventy-two minutes. Marc Newsham pitched in with a third ten minutes from time to give the Millers a well deserved victory.

Gavin was also in charge of our game at Stevenage in January last year, which ended in a three-nil win for the home side. More recently, Gavin was in the middle for our three-one win over Dagenham and Redbridge at Don Valley in September. Gareth Evans opened the scoring on eight minutes but Scott Doe made it one-all thirteen minutes later. Lewis Grabban put the Millers in front again on twenty-nine minutes, scoring his second and Rotherham's third seven minutes before half-time. That day Marcus Marshall from the Millers and Damien McCrory of Dagenham saw yellow cards that day.

So far this season, Gavin has officiated in twenty-nine games and shown ninety-one yellow cards and five red cards.

Running the line at Crawley will be …

Carl Brook from East Sussex
and
Barry Holderness from Essex

The Fourth Official will be ….
