'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ref Watch v The Bulls

Eddie Ilderton from Tyne and Wear

After having his playing career curtailed due to injury, Eddie was encouraged by his father to become a referee and he began refereeing in the Northern Alliance and Northern Leagues. Eddie has been on the National List of Referees since 2002 and in 2003 he was in the middle for the UEFA Regions' Cup Final and also an FA Trophy semi-final.

Eddie was in charge of our first away game of 2011 which was at Moss Rose where Jason Taylor gave the Millers the lead on twenty-eight minutes with Nick Fenton making sure of all three points six minutes from the end of the game. That day Dale Tonge and Marcus Marshall saw yellow cards.

Eddie was also in the middle for our game at Edgar Street in May the year before when the Millers lost three-nil as well as at Morecambe in 2008 when the Millers were on the wrong side of a five-one hiding.

The last time Eddie visited Don Valley was in January 2010 when Grimsby Town were the visitors. Adam Le Fondre put the Millers one up on nine minutes and got a second thirty minutes later. A late goal by Wes Fletcher saw the Millers having to hang on which they did to get the three points. The only booking that day was for Peter Sweeney of the Mariners.
