RUFC - Head-to-Head v Port Vale

Rotherham United travel to Vale Park tomorrow to take on Port Vale for the fifty-seventh time in the League.

The Millers and Vale first met at Vale Park in the 1954/55 season, although they had met before at Vale's former home, the Old Recreation Ground, with the game ending as a one-nil win to the home side.

The last time the Millers won at Vale Park was in November 2009 when the Millers got a dramatic winner in the second minute of time added on. Steve Brogan, who was on for Kevin Ellison, put the Millers ahead just after the half-hour mark with Luke Prosser getting an equaliser five minutes later for the home side. As the half came to an end Prosser was one of three players booked after a tussle and in time added on he got a second yellow for pulling back Adam Le Fondre. With it looking like the game would be one-all draw Paul Warne got hold of the ball in time added on, slipped it to Nicky Law who gave the Millers all three points as he slotted the ball into the back of the net. This left the Millers in fourth place and Vale in thirteenth in League Two.

Last season Vale won their home game two-nil with first-half goals from Marc Richards and Richards was the only scorer in January at Don Valley Stadium when his spot kick on fifty-seven minutes was enough to give the Valiants all three points.
