RUFC - Ref Watch v Morecambe

RUFC - Ref Watch v Morecambe
Gary Sutton from Lincolnshire

Gary worked his way up through the ranks and finally made it to the National List of Referees seven years ago.

In his first season he was in charge of our game at Millmoor against Yeovil. Deon Burton put the Millers in front on eighteen minutes but an own goal from Colin Murdock just after the half-hour mark got Yeovil back into the game. Unfortunately for the Millers just four minutes later Matt Harrold was allowed too much freedom and got the visitors second, and what turned out to be the winner. That day Gary showed yellow cards to Sean Barker and Andy Monkhouse of the Millers and Yeovil's Efe Sodje. Just eighteen days later, on Boxing Day, Gary was again in the middle for our game at Ashton Gate. Steve Brooker gave the Robins an eleventh minute lead but Colin Murdock, this time putting in his own net, equalised fifteen minutes later. Three minutes after the break Scott Murray gave the home side the lead again and Brooker scored his second and City's third to give them a three-one win on seventy-seven minutes. Paul McLaren and Lee Williamson saw yellow on this day.

Last season Gary was in charge of our Johnstone's Paint Trophy game at Don Valley against Sheffield United. Christ Porter put the visitors in front on nine minutes with Alex Revell getting an equaliser on sixty-nine minutes for the Millers. There were six minutes added time at the end of the game after Mark Bradley had been stretchered off with a serious shoulder injury and with it looking like it would go to penalties Ched Evans shot from the edge of the box and the ball hit the post and went into the back of the net to send the Blades into the next round.

So far this season Gary has been in charge of eight games and shown twenty-five yellow cards and one red card
