'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ref Watch v Cheltenham

Darren Sheldrake from Surrey

This is Darren`s sixth season on the National List of Referees, after he got into refereeing when his local club asked if he would take a course and be in the middle for their junior football games.

Darren was in charge of our Capital One Cup game against Hull City in August when the Millers lost in the penalty shoot-out at the KC Stadium after the game had finished one-all after ninety minutes. Lionel Ainsworth scored for the Millers on fifty-two minutes only for Aaron McLean to equalise eighteen minutes later. After this game I do remember the comments from the fans about the referee weren't very complimentary!

The only other times Darren has been in the middle for a Millers game was when the Millers travelled to Plymouth last season when former Miller Will Atkinson put the home side in front four minutes into the second half but two goals from Gareth Evans followed by two for Adam Le Fondre gave the Millers all three points and he was in charge of our game with Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium in February 2011. Cody McDonald put the home side in front on just five minutes with Nicky Law getting an equaliser two minutes later. McDonald struck again on thirty-six minutes with Dennis Oli making it three-one to the Gills a minute from time.

This season Darren has been in the middle for eleven games and has shown forty-two yellow cards and one red card

Running the line at New York on Saturday will be

Paul Cook from East Yorkshire
and
Scott Oldham from Lancashire

The Fourth Official will be

Matt McGrath from East Yorkshire
