RUFC -Head-to-Head v The Magpies

Rotherham United travel to Meadow Lane (again) this evening to take on Notts County in the second round FA Cup replay.

With the first game at the New York Stadium ending one-all, with both goals being scored in the first half and the game last Tuesday called off an hour and a half before kick-off, the two get to meet again tonight with a tie against Aldershot at the Recreation Ground awaiting the victors.

This will be just the fourth time that the Magpies and Millers have met in the FA Cup the first time was in October 1885 with Rotherham being on the end of a 15-0 defeat. In 1969/70 the two met in the first round at Meadow Lane when two goals from Steve Downes and one from Neil Hague gave the Millers a three-nil win and a place in the next round with Workington Town.

The last time the teams met at Meadow Lane was in the league in March 2010 when a goal in the last minute of the match from Luke Rodgers gave the home side a one-nil win.

The last time the Millers won at Meadow Lane was in December 2008. The Millers went one-up with a Reuben Reid goal on five minutes and two minutes into the second half Drewe Broughton doubled the score. On fifty-two minutes Micky Cummins made it three-nil and the Millers took all three points home.

The Millers also won at Meadow Lane the year before when a goal from Marc Joseph on thirty-four minutes was enough to give the visitors all three points.

In January 2001 though the score was much different. The Millers went into half-time in the lead thanks to a Guy Branston goal on thirty-five minutes but a minute into the second half Anders Jacobson equalised. This was followed by goals from Richard Liburd, Andy Hughes and Mark Stallard to give the Magpies a four-one win.
