RUFC - Head-to-Head v The Cobblers

Rotherham United welcome Northampton Town to the New York Stadium on Saturday with just two points between the teams.

The last time the two met in Rotherham was at Millmoor in September 2006 when David Hibbert put the home side one-up on seven minutes. But in the second half Scott McGleish scored twice to give the Cobblers an away win.

The last time the Millers beat Northampton on 'home' soil was at Don Valley on a Tuesday night in April 2010. An Adam Le Fondre penalty on sixty-five minutes gave the Millers the win but it was the three red cards that made the headlines. Craig Hinton upended Le Fondre to give away the spot kick and got his marching orders from Referee Eddie Evans and twelve minutes later the Millers Danny Harrison was deemed to have gone in a bit hard on Luke Guttridge and was sent off with Guttridge himself seeing red in the melee that followed.

The first time the two met at Millmoor was on Boxing Day 1963 when an own goal gave the Millers the win.

When the two met last season at Don Valley the game ended one-all with the Millers goal coming from Alex Revell and Adebayo Akinfenwa equalising in the last minute of the game.

The game earlier this season as Sixfields was a two-one win for the Cobblers - Chris Hackett opened the scoring on twenty-six minutes and three minutes before half-time Ben Pringle equalised. But a goal from Alex Nicholls on eighty-six minutes gave the home side all three points.
