RUFC - Ref Watch v The Gills

RUFC - Ref Watch v The Gills
Steven Rushton from Staffordshire

This is Steven`s fifth season as a Football League Referee and he has been in the middle for a few Millers games in the past.

The first time we encountered Mr Rushton was on a cold December night at the New Meadow when Shrewsbury beat us two-nil.

The following season Steve was in charge of two games involving the Millers. The first at Edgar Street last August where the Millers came away with all three points thanks to a Paul Warne goal on the stroke of half-time. Steve was busy that day, booking nine players - Ryan Valentine, O'Neil Thompson, Kenny Lunt, Stuart Fleetwood and Sean Canham from the Bulls and Andy Warrington, Tom Newey, Ryan Cresswell and Paul Warne of the Millers.

The second was in April at Don Valley when Morecambe were the visitors. The only goal of the game was scored eight minutes from time by the Shrimps` James Spencer. The only booking of the game was for the visitors` Phil Jevons.

The last time he was in the middle for a game involving the Millers was in the Carling Cup game at Don Valley against Leicester City. Rotherham went ahead on thirteen minutes thanks to an own goal from Matthew Mills but the Foxes equalised on thirty-six minutes when Paul Gallagher put the ball in the net which sent the teams in equal at half-time. But a second half hat-trick from Jeffrey Schlupp gave the Foxes a deserved win. On the day yellow cards were shown to Marcus Marshall of the Millers and Leicester`s Paul Gallagher.

This season Steve has been in charge of twenty-one games showing forty-two yellow and four red cards.

Running the line tomorrow will be
Carl Fitch from Suffolk
and
Rob Whitton from Essex

The Fourth Official will be
Graham Kane from East Sussex
