RUFC - Cup Head-to-Head v Huddersfield

RUFC - Cup Head-to-Head v Huddersfield
Rotherham United make the short journey into West Yorkshire for the second round of the Caraboa Cup on Wednesday evening when they meet new Premier League boys Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium.

The pair last met in Huddersfield in September last year in the Championship when Elias Kachunga put the hosts in front on just two minutes. Danny Ward equalised for the Millers on the thirty-fourth minute but four minutes later the Terriers were ahead again with a goal from Nahki Wells.

The pair have only met once before in this competition in August 1987 when it was the Littlewoods Cup. The game at Millmoor was a four-all draw with the Millers goals coming from Gareth Evans (2), Carl Airey and Martin Scott. Duncan Shearer scored a hat-trick for the visitors with Mark Barham getting the other.

The second leg at Leeds Road was a victory for the Millers with goals from Airey, Colin Douglas and Evans with the only reply for Huddersfield coming from Shearer giving Rotherham a seven-five aggregate win.

The Millers went on to face Everton, losing three-two at Millmoor and getting a nil-nil draw at Goodison Park, sending the Toffees through on aggregate.

In this competition last season Huddersfield were knocked out in the first round by Shrewsbury at the New Meadow with the Millers suffering the same fate at home to Morecambe.

Of the fifty-five games the teams have played in all competitions Huddersfield have won thirty to the Millers ten.
